 This half term we will learning about lots of exciting things.

  • Persuasive Text writing: Create a leaflet to Reception class children telling then why they should join Meon Infant School.
    • Expanded Noun Phrases, subordination and ordination words (connectives), sentence structure.
    • Apostrophes: possessive.
    • Phase 6 suffixes prefixes, plurals and tenses, compound words and syllables.
    • Develop editing skills to improve work.
    • Spelling, punctuation and grammar.


  • Adding, subtracting, multiplication and division – using a variety of strategies.
  • Problem solving and reasoning
  • Investigating number problems. Working systematically
  • Co-ordinate Language - linked to map reading
  • Data Handing – tally charts. 
  • Revisiting all areas of the Maths curriculum through investigative activities. 


  • Understand geographical similarities and differences of a local area.
  • Use simple fieldwork and observational skills to study the geography of our local environments.
  • Describe and recognize landmarks and describe the location of features and routes on a map.


  • Access school website and navigate different learning areas.
  • Use a variety of programs and equipment to support learning in all areas of the curriculum.
    • Use internet to research information.
    • Using Digital Cameras to take photos of the local area.

Research and Project Time (R.A.P.T.)

  • To encourage children to make their own choices from a range of activities linked to different areas of the curriculum
  • To plan and review their learning.
  • This half term it will be linked to our Topic ‘Play Up Pompey’ with a Geography focus.



  • Looking at different faiths: this half term focusing on Hinduism.
