 This half term we will learning about lots of exciting things.

English

  • Create a booklet about the character Winnie the Witch - Character Description, Book Review, Letter, Instructions and writing for a different purpose. 
  • Expanded Noun Phrases, subordination and ordination words (connectives), sentence structure.
  • Phase 6 suffixes prefixes, plurals and tenses, compound words and syllables.
  • Develop editing skills to improve work.
  • Spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Maths

  • Adding, subtracting, multiplication and division – using a variety of strategies.
  • Problem solving.
  • Investigating number problems. Working systematically
  • Position and Directional Language - linked to movements on a clock and turns 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4. 
  • Revisiting all areas of the Maths curriculum through investigative activities. 

Science

  • Identify and name a variety of plants and animals. 
  • Understand that living things grow and reproduce. 
  • Explore different habitats and describe how the habitats provide for the needs of the animals and plants. 
  • Match animals/plants to their habitats.
  • Describe basic conditions required for animals and plants to survive. 

ICT

  • Access school website and navigate different learning areas.
  • Use a variety of programs and equipment to support learning in all areas of the curriculum.
    • Use internet to research information.
    • Use bluetooth Beebots to program algorithms, linked to maths learning: Positional and Directional Language.

Research and Project Time (R.A.P.T.)

  • To encourage children to make their own choices from a range of activities linked to different areas of the curriculum
  • To plan and review their learning.
  • This half term it will be linked to our Topic ‘Big and Small’ with a Science focus.
